- Will rhodium plating last longer on a ring that is cleaned frequently?
Yes... Rhodium is a thin coating placed on silver, white gold, and platinum jewelry to give it a high polish finish. Dust and contaminants in the environment interact with body oils, lotions, etc to form an abrasive mixture that begins to wear away at rhodium and plated jewelry. Removing these contaminants can significantly extend rhodium life.
When selecting the proper jewelry cleaner, choose one that was formulated for your type of jewelry (Platinum, gold, silver, etc) and one that is non-residue forming. Jewelry cleaners that leave a residue on the jewelry surface after cleaning just trap more dust and airborne contaminants requiring more and more frequent cleanings.
For optimum rhodium life, we recommend cleaning rhodium plated gold jewelry with SparkleSparkle™ Gold once every 4 to 7 days.

- How long does jewelry sparkle with SparkleSparkle™ ?
Jewelry cleaned with SparkleSparkle™ is more clean, and stays cleaner longer than with other jewelry cleaners. SparkleSparkle™ leaves no residue on gemstones or precious metals. Residues left by other cleaners trap dust and dirt requiring longer and more frequent cleaning.
Jewelry worn daily can be cleaned once every 7 to 10 days. If you use hairspray or hair gel, we recommend increasing the cleaning frequency to once every 4 to 7 days.

- Can SparkleSparkle™ JewelryCare cleaning solutions be used in a sonic cleaner?
Yes. SparkleSparkle™ premium cleaning solutions can be safely used in a sonic cleaner. However, over time contaminants removed from jewelry will build-up in sonic cleaners. These contaminants dramatically reduce the cleaning effectiveness and may not provide a satisfactory professional quality cleaning. Our sealed spray bottle design ensures SparkleSparkle™ JewelryCare products consistently deliver professional quality cleaning results.

- Is SparkleSparkle™ available as a dip solution?
No. SparkleSparkle™ works best with the gentle agitation from spraying. To maintain its purity and effectiveness, SparkleSparkle™ JewelryCare solutions are only available in sealed spray style clear bottles. The spray bottle design preserves the advanced formulation and enhances cleaning power.

- Should I soak heavily soiled jewelry?
No. Soaking jewelry can strip the natural moisture and oils found deep within delicate and porous gemstones. We recommend the use of a non-abrasive SparkleSparkle™ GemBrush to gently clean heavily soiled jewelry, the underside of gemstones, channel settings, and anniversary bands. The build-up of contaminants over many years may require multiple applications.

- Is it normal for SparkleSparkle™ Delicate to turn cloudy?
Yes, The clarity of SparkleSparkle™ Delicate is temperature sensitive. If the bottle temperature falls below 40 degrees Fahrenheit, SparkleSparkle™ will begin to look milky. At even lower temperatures, SparkleSparkle™ Delicate turns pearlescent (try it!).
The lack of transparency in SparkleSparkle™ Delicate does NOT affect performance. To restore 100% clarity, simply remove the cap, place the bottle in a microwave set on high for 8 seconds, replace the cap, and shake well.
If you are an administrator or teacher for Grades 6-12 interested in using SparkleSparkle™ Delicate with your science curriculum, please contact us.

- Is SparkleSparkle™ safe to bring when I travel?
Yes. All SparkleSparkle™ JewelryCare products are non-flammable, non-toxic, and non-abrasive. Our sealed spray bottle design and product packaging has been engineered and tested not to leak.
The compact travel friendly design of SparkleSparkle™ JewelryCare products is also ideal to keep jewelry looking its best while on a cruise.

- Is SparkleSparkle™ Gold, Platinum, or Silver safe for use with delicate jewelry?
We recommend the use of SparkleSparkle™ Pearl with pearls, delicate, and porous gemstones such as opal. The SparkleSparkle™ Pearl formula was engineered to safely clean away abrasive contaminants from the silk used to string pearls together. The same gentle formula is excellent at cleaning delicate gemstones.

- Can I use SparkleSparkle™ Gold on platinum jewelry?
Yes. The SparkleSparkle™ Gold formula is optimized for cleaning gold jewelry and precious gemstones. It can also be safely used (but with less effectiveness) on silver, or platinum jewelry. When a platinum setting is combined with gold or another precious metal, care for the jewelry as you would for the non-platinum metal.
- Can I use SparkleSparkle™ Platinum on gold jewelry?
Yes. The SparkleSparkle™ Platinum formula is formulated for use in cleaning platinum jewelry. It can also be safely used (but with less effectiveness) to clean silver and gold jewelry.

- Is SparkleSparkle™ available in larger size bottles?
Yes, SparkleSparkle™ Gold and SparkleSparkle™ Platinum are now available in larger bottles. Small enough to be comfortable and convenient to use, and large enough to provide upto 500 cleanings per bottle.

- Where does tarnish on jewelry come from?
Tarnish is the result of a natural reaction between oxygen in the air and an alloy metal in jewelry. Alloy metals are added to increase hardness or decrease brittleness.
Unlike gold and platinum, silver tarnish is created by a chemical reaction between the silver in jewelry and trace sulfur compounds in the air.
- Why does my silver tarnish so quickly (2 - 4 days) after using a commerical dip silver cleaner?
Silver tarnish is the result of sulfur compounds reacting with the silver. Most commerial dip silver cleaners work by aggressively etching off a thin layer of silver and silver sulfide. The unfortunate side-effect of the etching process is pitting of the silver surface.
With each dip cleaning, sulfur is removed from the tarnished silver surface and deposited into the cleaning solution. At the same time, the surface of the silver becomes more and more pitted. Soon, the pitted surface begins to trap dip cleaner residue high in sulfur concentration. Within a couple of days, the high sulfur residue trapped in the pitted silver surface turns silver dark with tarnish.
The dirty little secret in the silver jewelry cleaning industry is that this requires more frequent cleanings with more silver dip cleaner. Break the 2 - 4 day cleaning cycle with a non-residue forming, non-pitting silver cleaner such as SparkleSparkle™ Silver.

- Do you offer a polishing cloth for silver?
Yes, The SparkleSparkle™ UltraCloth was developed to polish silver, gold, and platinum precious metals. The soft chamois-like UltraCloth is treated with special tarnish inhibitors that give jewelry a lasting tarnish-free sparkle.
